I finally found the time to make the American flag shorts I’ve been seeing around. I wanted to post a tutorial but I didn’t think about it till I was done with the whole process (forgive me ). I was able to find a video tutorial for you guys. In the tutorial she used an actual flag. I couldn't find one large enough so I ended up using boxers.

I thought they were a bit too long so i shorten them a bit.

Tips/Tricks:

- If your thicker use a larger print. I took me forever to find boxers with a print that’s big enough for me.

- My friend asked is it better to hand sew, or glue the fabric on. I would suggest sewing it on using a sewing machine.

- Try washing the boxers before sewing using them to give them a more vintage feel.

A Weave Addiction

It has been a very difficult summer but only because I haven't had tracks in my hair all summer long!!! (that's a stretch for me).. Usually the only time my hair gets a break is when I take off the weave to put another weave in... I know I know thats Horrible!..So I made a promise to myself that I would not wear weave until school starts back up..

This summer is my first time I'm dealing with my actual natural hair.. at first I had no idea what I was doing but then I started experimenting ...

Picture 1: The Twist Out - I tried out this hair style for my cousins birthday party.. I was IN LOVE with this hair style ... UNTIL I STEPPED OUTSIDE!!. The humidity outside shrunk my hair into a shriveled up cotton ball. By the end of the night I looked a mess!

Picture 2: The Janelle Monae - I was really feeling this hairstyle. The only problem I had with it was the amount of gel and eco style I had to use to hold my sides up. By the time I took down my hair I had used a whole container of gel (Family Size)!!

Picture 3: The Big Bun - I tried out this hair style by accident..I had a busy ponytail extension and was hot one day so I wrapped it around my head and there you have it.. I've been rocking it ever since.

Now I can't think of anymore ideas lol .. Can you think of a hairstyle I should try out using my natural hair?

DIY: Oversized Fringe Clutch

I discovered my obsession with oversized clutches searching through blogs and tumblr. I found so many different prints, colors, and textures but the only problem kept running into were the prices. My current budget has no room for a 150 dollar clutch. But after aimlessly searching through blogs I came stumbled across ChelleBellz where I found this amazing clutch

$40 dollars is a steal!.. But I again my budget is on an extreme diet so I decided to make my own clutch.

I started to get the materials for the clutch pictured above until I realized I had enough to fabric make a fringe bag that I've been trying to make for a while now.

MATERIALS I USED

1yd Interface : Scissors : Funky Lining : 2yds Suede Fabric : Metal Clasp: Iron

I started by making the fringe on the clutch from the suede fabric

I cut about 20 strips of fringe

After fusing the interface onto the suede with the iron I sewed the lining and suede together.

Next, I sewed the folded material in half with the right sides together, matching the selvage edges.

HERE'S THE HARD PART...

I then sewed the strips of fringe onto the the bag ... BY HAND!

After than painstaking task was completed I inserted the metal clasp on to the inside of the bag

The total hours I spent making the bag was about 8 hours definitely well worth the time spent. ..& the total cost for the materials came out to about 10 bucks!

Here's the bag completed! :)

Last weekend I was reminiscing about all the good times this summer had to offer but then I realized, .....Summer is almost over!!! :( .. I also noticed I haven't worn an all white outfit yet which is unusual for me. So I decided to put on all white attire for a sisterly outing to downtown Silver Spring, MD. I paired my outfit with an over sized fringe bag I handmade and my favorite scarf. I'll post a tutorial on the fringe handbag before this week is over.

THE DIY BLUES

For weeks I've been coming up with great ideas to create the only problem is... I don't feel like making them. It's kind of like I lost my drive. So today I'm locking myself inside until I make at least one of the things I've been planning to create.

... About a year ago I made these bracelets below for a fashion show.Well now I'm completely over them so I'm going to turn them into something more wearable..
