The 90s are Back

It has finally happened, the fashion decade everyone said would never come back into vogue - the 90s is inspiring designers everywhere. There are some fantastic looks for you to tap into. Here is my round up of some that are well worth checking out.

Give yourself a good foundation
When you go shopping, be sure to wear the right underwear. It really is the only way to work out if a specific outfit is right for you, or not. If the elastic in your bra no longer provides a good level of support, you just will not look as good regardless of what you try on.

Fortunately, it is not hard to find good quality underwear, which is well made and fits properly. For example, you can buy some great plus size bras from Simply Be.

OK, now we have got that practical piece of advice out of the way, it is time to take a quick look at the 90s styles you could be trying on, next time you go shopping.

Even more jumpsuits
As you all know I have a bit of a soft spot for colorful jumpsuits. I bought one a few months ago, and am drawn to it like a magnet. My one is 70s inspired, but there are quite a few 90s style ones available, which also look good,
The styling is a little different with these 90s inspired jumpsuits. The legs tend not to be as flared, and the fabrics used are often plain rather than featuring large prints.

Velvet
In the 90s, velvet was a very popular fabric. It looks good on practically anyone. The fact it is relatively heavy means it skims the body rather than clings. There are some really nice velvet blouses out there. They are a little heavy to wear right now but will be great for the fall, so look out for them.

Trench coats
In the 90s, practically everyone owned a trench coat. This classic coat looks great on most women. They can be worn either open or shut to create the look you want. If you are pear shaped or round, choose one that flares out slightly from the waist so that it flatters your figure.
The nice thing about trench coats is that they are light enough to wear on a cool evening in the summer, but also take you through the fall. Provided you buy a good quality one it will be shower proof. If you buy one that is generously proportioned, you could even wear it in the winter with a thick long cardigan and a shawl to protect your throat area. It really is a very versatile style of coat.

90s style jewelry
The trick to looking good is accessorizing well. There is some great 90s style jewelry available right now. Chokers look great whether you wear them with a top for a night out on the town, or a nice dress for work. Black bands with a single charm threaded onto it, look especially good with some of the denim on denim outfits I shared with you recently.
The above really is the tip of the iceberg. There are lots of 90s style clothes that look great on curvy women. So, if you have not been shopping for a while, now is the perfect time to get out there, try a few things on and treat yourself to something new.
