Maasai Fixation

So was I the only one with serious jewelry envy after seeing Beyonce grace the cover of Flaunt Magazine in traditional maasai jewelry?!  I've searched high and low for one similar but the costs of these authentic neck pieces are way out of my price range. So instead of spending $300- $600 on a necklace I ventured into the blogosphere for diys. With no luck  I had to come up with something of my own which in return allowed me to add a little Nigerian twist to the traditional neck piece.

...and let me just tell you I am in love with this neck piece! The materials cost way more than expected for a diy but I'd say it was well worth the extra cash. I recently wore the neck piece to a gallery opening and received tons of compliments and even order requests. This is definitely a piece I'll be adding to my shop soon! Oh and did I mention I finally plan on opening up shop? I know! Its about time right?!  Nothing too big I want it to be highly intimate, something to satisfy my design cravings but not too big that it becomes overwhelming. I'll explain it all in a future post. OK enough of me rambling here is the outfit I wore to the opening of the gallery.

Quick Tip// These heels can be a bit uncomfortable so I suggest purchasing a pair of heel pads.  I recommend Dr. Scholls for Her High Heel Insole. They make a huge difference !!

  15. The jewellery reminds me of Ndebele bangles and neck pieces. They're quite affordable this side. Great job on the DIY and lovely look overall.
